"Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ..."  II Corinthians 2:14a

Dear friends in Christ,

My family and I traveled 5,000 miles the months of January and February visiting churches and presenting the ministry of Spanish baptist Missions.  Praise God for the souls that were saved in the different services!  Karen and I trusted God to keep our boys well while traveling, and by his grace, he did.

We extend our condolences to pastor Merrill H. Coram of Thomasville, Georgia on the recent death of his dear wife.  It was a blessing to attend the funeral service for this godly woman.  Brother Coram is pastor of Temple Baptist Church and a member of our Board of Directors.

Answer to Prayer

For several years we have requested prayer for Sammy who was born with a cleft palate.  He is the son of Missionary Jose Luis Herrera and his wife Sandra from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.  On March 5, 1999 we helped ten-year-old Sammy and Sandra come to the States.  Two doctors volunteering their services under "Operation Smile" performed aesthetic surgery March 10.  By the grace of God, the surgery was successful.

After two and one-half weeks of recovery, Sammy and Sandra returned home on the 30th.  She was able to take with her Bibles, New Testaments, tracts, and much-needed children's Bible lessons and visualized songs.

Sammy is scheduled for additional surgery in July and Sandra is hoping her older son, Luisito, can also come for minor surgery at that time.   Please pray that the airfare and other needs will be met.

Pray also that we may help bring 16 year old Maria Elena Olguin, daughter of the deceased missionary, to have reconstructive surgery.  Her face was partially torn when she was struck by the side view mirror of a dump truck when she tried to cross the highway after school.

Literature

Bibles and tracts have been received for the native missionaries.  The Lord willing, we plan to deliver all we can during June.  Please pray that the expenses of going into Mexico will be supplied (gasoline is $1.80 a gallon).  All of the missionaries need bibles and literature and we need to contact as many as possible in one trip.

Family News

Stevie has learned to unlock doors and climb the chain-link fence.  It really makes us vigilant!  Please pray for Karen as she tries to find Christian girls to help watch him.  Pray with us also concerning the expense of the curriculum to home-school Mary and Stevie.

Urgent Prayer Request

My sister, Jessi Ruth Silos Wong, is seriously ill with acute pancreatitis.  She was at the point of death for several days, knew she was dying, and was ready to meet God.  Please pray for the Lord's will to be accomplished in her life and in that of her husband and three children.  Jessi is a bilingual teacher in a middle school.

An heir of God through Christ,

Joel Silos,

Director

Camerino Vargas, Leon, Guajajuato

He is grateful for a lot that was donated for a church building.  If you will recall, Brother Camerino works among the people who live by the city dump.  He and his wife say these people are the most difficult to evangelize that they have known.
