"Fear thou not; for I am with
thee: Be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; Yea, I
will help thee; Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my
righteousness."
Isaiah 41:10
Dear Friends in Christ,
My wife, Karen, the children, and I
are on deputation since June 12, 2004. Please uphold us in
prayer. Pray also for the Lord to prepare open doors and hearts as
we present the ministry of the native missionaries in Mexico.
We praise the Lord and thank Him for
the offerings so that we can attend camp geared specifically for children
with disabilities and their families the first week of August. This
will be our son, David's (eight years old), first opportunity to attend
camp. Thank you for sharing with us. We are grateful to the
Lord for supplying through you, dear friends. Anything over and
above the fee will defray the cost to and from camp.
Our report this month focuses on the
Lord's work in Leon, Guanajuato. During May 2004, I traveled to
Leon, with a load of Bibles, New Testaments, and tracts in addition to
hymn books, videos, and cassettes. It is always a blessing to be
able to take these witnessing tools to the native missionaries. We
praise God for the ministry of Frank Woodford and Central Baptist Church
of Panama City, Florida, who sends these supplies.
The Bible Institute, El Evangelista
that is under Iglesia Bautista Bet-el in Leon, finished the school year
with a missionary conference the second week of June. Four students
completed their coursework on June 11, 2004 and will now begin their year
of intern service putting into practice what they have learned so far.
I saw a great improvement in the
building that is now enclosed and almost finished. The plumbing and
the showers for two bathrooms are complete. Pastor Isidro Ontiveros
and the men from the church worked hard and did a good job.
Iglesia Bautista Jezreel and Pastor
Leonardo Urquieta praise the Lord for the finished roof on their
building. Offerings from individuals and churches in the United
States helped pay for the materials for these projects.
A year ago in our July letter,
Brother Leonardo asked for prayer for Isaac and Abram Preciado, two
brothers, faithful prayer-warriors, who had multiple sclerosis.
Isaac went home to Glory the following month of August.
I visited the Preciados' home and saw
the tiled bathroom and whirlpool installed for Abram by Brother Leonardo
and the men of the church. I also saw the nice mattress on a low
platform with casters that keeps Abram out of the water that runs through
the house every time it rains. The mattress and the materials for
the bathroom project were paid for with a love offering from a church in
Lakeland, Florida. Abram and his parents wish to thank each one who
had a part in providing his needs.
Brother Leonardo's wife has been
having health problems for some time. On her last visit to the
doctor she was told there is a possibility she has uterine cancer.
Please pray for her.
As always brethren, we marvel at
God's goodness and mercy. God's faithfulness towards His children is
a witness to His greatness in our daily efforts here and in Mexico.
An heir of God through Christ,
Joel Silos, D.D.
