March 2007

Abide in me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.              John 15:4

Dear Friends in Christ,

Greetings in the Name above all names, Jesus Christ, our wonderful Savior and Lord!  Since the beginning of the year, I have only been home two weeks.  It is necessary for me to travel to make new contacts in order to raise support for the native missionaries.  I appreciate Karen's spirit of cooperation while I am away.  Thank you for praying for us.

The 1996 truck in which I travel, and live in while away from home, finally gave out while I was in North Carolina.  After 235,000 miles, the motor had to be replaced.  Last year the truck was used to transport 18,000 lbs of gospel literature, Bibles, hymn-books, etc., and also to visit the pastors in Mexico.  One of my Board Members, Pastor Bubby Sizemore, is helping me raise the money to pay for the expensive repair.

Family News

Mary continues to raise chickens and is also involved in a Debate Club.

David continues to progress in school.  We are looking forward to taking him this summer to a Christian Camp for families with children with disabilities.

Mephibosheth Ministry-Eating At The Kings's Table

We are grateful for the response to this new facet of our ministry.  As a result, several handicapped individuals, and their helpers, will be able to attend camp this year.  The native pastors who learned of this are very grateful.

Karen contacted a Ministry that supplies wheel chairs for the disabled and they will supply all the wheel chairs we can use in Mexico.  We plan to take four on our next trip, as that is all we can carry at a time.

Pray Requests

Please pray for my nephew, Nathan Paul Silos, a Marine stationed in Baghdad.

We hope to attend camp April 2-7 in Leon, Gauanajuato; and then visit the supported pastors in that area.  Please pray with us that the Lord will supply the needed funds to cover the approximate cost of $1,500.

Excerpts Translated from recent letters:

December 2006  The Lord blessed us in our special service on the 24th when five people made profession of faith.  A taxi-driver was saved the previous Sunday and then brought his family to church and they were saved.  God gave us the privilege of leading Locadia to Christ.  She is an elderly lady and has asked for the Bible on cassettes as she does not know how to read.  A young man who lost his eyesight due to an accident at work has accepted Christ and he especially would like some Bible cassettes.  Then we won a young married man who would also like the Bible on cassettes.  Sandra, who was saved recently, is reading her Bible faithfully.

November 2006  God gave us the privilege of leading Ana to the feet of Christ.  She can only attend church on Sunday mornings as she helps her husband sell tacos at their street-stand in the evenings.  Also, the mother of one of the ladies in the church accepted Christ the third time she visited our services; then a young married couple made a profession of faith and are attending our services.  A middle-school teacher was saved and we are encouraging her to come to church.

October 2006  Rosa accepted Christ after much resistance; and then we won Maria, in whose home we now hold Bible studies.  My wife is instructing two ladies she won to Christ.  We are praying about a Prison Ministry since the day we preached to the prisoners from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. and were asked to return.

September 2006  The Lord blessed with three baptisms.  We are praying for the others who also need to be baptized.  One day we received a phone call from a lady who had found one of our tracts.  My wife and I visited her and led her to the Lord.  She told us her sons were in the United States and they would call and tell her about salvation through faith in Christ.  Gerardo, Maria, Concepcion, and two couples have also been saved.

Each person saved receives a Bible and we have none left at this time.  Please pray about the much-needed Bible cassettes, they would be greatly appreciated.

In 2005, a special offering was received for Brother Felipe, which we forwarded, to enable him to put a roof on the building he and the men of the church were raising.  In his most recent letter, he tells us they have recently finished installing bathrooms.  PTL!

Brother Felipe request we join him in praying that the church will soon be able to build an orphanage.  They are burdened as they see many children in their area wandering around aimlessly.

An Heir of God through Christ,

Joel Silos, D.D.
