Dear Friends and Supporters,

Pastor's Conference

The pastors' conference in Leon, Guanajuato, the 17th, 18th, & 19th of this month held many blessings for the forty-five pastors and their families in attendance.  Services were at night only.  Tuesday morning, the pastors scaled a nearby mountain to pray at the top!  On Wednesday morning, a team of Bible School students and a team of pastors played soccer.  Pastor Ontiveros, who is our Field Representative, thinking he was such a good player because no one tried to stop him, found out later that the students literally had the scripture "touch not my anointed" in mind!  The church ladies prepared delicious meals three times daily.  Who else could prepare better Mexican food?

Carlos Mata Ramos

The purchase of a horse or burro for missionary Carlos was postponed until January because he is not on the field at this time.  He is assisting his sending pastor in constructing a church building.

Huichol Indian Ministry

There is a possibility of having part in supporting native Huichol Indian pastors.  A trip is being planned for next January to visit their area and meet some of them.

Prayer Request

Lately, we have had an onslaught of new applications from native missionaries who are already planting churches, and from some who are just starting the process of planting a new church.  All are in need of support.  We need God's wisdom and discernment in raising the needed funds.

Family News

David is now in Jr. High and having to adjust to a new teacher and a different environment.  Mary is studying Chemistry, Algebra II, and Apologetics in Speech and Debate.  Karen is involved in David's schooling; attending seminars, (1),in Applied Behavior Analysis and (2), sharpening and improving articulation.

Update on my nephew, Marine Nathan Silos serving in Iraq

When Nathan was home for some R&R in August, he did not tell his parents he was suffering from headaches and memory loss due to EOD explosions which had happened by his vehicle at different times.  When Nathan retuned to Iraq, he learned that the others who rode with him in the humvee were having problems also, some worse than he; like nosebleeds, and more.  He was evaluated and confined to base.  Nathan has been sent to
Bethesda Hospital in Maryland, and may possibly be given a month's leave to recuperate at home.  Please pray for him and for the doctors' wisdom.

Special Prayer Request

My sister Becky has been diagnosed with possible breast cancer.

Letter received: August 30, 2007

Leon, Guanajuato

Beloved brethren and Director Joel Silos:

I hope that when you receive this letter you are enjoying the rich blessings that our celestial Father has abundantly given you, his children.

I deeply appreciate the Lord for permitting us the blessing of being able to count with brethren such as you, who show interest in the necessities of your coworkers in the harvest.  For almost two years we were having great trials and pain with the illness of our beloved Rachel; it was a time of anguish, necessity and affliction; but it was also an epoch of blessings, prayers and victory as we were able to count on the Divine Comforter and with the brethren who, like you, supported us in the spiritual and in the material.

On July 25th of this year, Rachel passed to take possession of her heavenly home, God - in his sovereignty, wisdom, and love - decided that her fight on this earth be terminated and that she leave her body invaded by the cancer so that she could be comforted in the arms of our tender Jesus.

I know that we will never be able to become completely accustomed to Rachel's absence, but we have the hope that one day we will be together again in adoration and that forevermore to the One who saved us with His precious blood.

I want to appreciate all the patronage and support that you gave us during this time, and please be assured that one day you will receive your reward from the hands of our Savior.  I hope that we continue to stay in contact, since, because of our love for Rachel, we are more united.

In the love of Christ

Genaro Ubaldo Acosta Gutierrez

Pastor of the House of the Potter Baptist Church

An Heir of God through Christ,

Joel Silos, D.D.
