"And the angel said unto them, Fear not:
For, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to
all people." Luke 2:10
Dear friends in Christ,
Thank you for your prayers and support
throughout this year which is fast coming to an end. We praise God
daily for His multiple blessings.
Karen, the children, and I traveled 7,000 miles
in close to three months. We presented the ministry in churches
and to individuals in Campobello, New Brunswick; in the states of Maine,
New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Tennessee,
North Carolina, and South Carolina.
We made it home October 25, but our vehicle did
not. It was necessary to leave the motor home in Tyler, Texas,
eight hours from our house. Woodland Hills Baptist Church, a
supporting church, has graciously allowed us the use of their parking
lot. The Lord willing, I will go back as soon as possible to work
on the motor.
Our five year old David had ear infections
while we traveled and was checked by doctors in different states.
The day after we arrived home, we took him to a specialist. He
said it was imperative to have David's tonsils and adenoids removed
immediately. Surgery was performed October 31. After two bad
nights, he began to recover. Please remember David in prayer since
he is still plagued with ear infections.
Board Meeting
The Board of Directors had their annual session
in Atlanta on December 1. The meeting went well and as always, a
good time of fellowship followed. The Board members are Mr. F.C.
Thomas, college Park, Georgia; Pastor Merrill Coram, Thomasville,
Georgia; Pastor Bud Wishon, Yadkinville, North Carolina; Mr. Randy Cook,
Chilhowie, Virginia; Pastor Gene Sorenson, Valrico, Florida; and Pastor
Buddy Sizemore, Valdese, North Carolina; Mrs. Rebecca T. Silos,
Secretary; and myself. Please remember these Board Members in your
prayers. We extended an invitation to Mr. Ben Copeland Jr. of
Marietta, Georgia to become a member of the Board of Directors.
Ben is the son of longtime supporters of this ministry.
Honorary Degree
Emmanuel Baptist University of Connelly
Springs, North Carolina has bestowed on mean Honorary Doctor of Divinity
Degree. I am appreciative of the confidence and feel greatly
honored. May the Lord receive all praise!
Update on the vehicle for
Missionary Rodolfo Pacheco
$2,700 of the $3,000 needed for a vehicle have
come in and have been forwarded to Brother Pacheco. He ministers
in two cities in the Yucatan Peninsula, Caucel and Progreso, and is also
a mentor to several men in the area.
Great need met in advance
When we were in Jamestown, Tennessee, Brother
Don Hyder offered us a large amount of food. A week later we
received a call from Missionary Alfonso Calderon who had a great
need. He was unable to feed more than twice a day, the 28 students
of the Bible Institute, their wives, some of whom are pregnant, and
their children. After the board Meeting, my mother and I went to
Jamestown to pick up the food. On December 11 I took it to Bro.
Alfonso.
With an estimated 2,500 pounds of food, I also
delivered boxes containing a total of 23,500 tracts, some gospel videos,
cassette tapes of hymns in Spanish, and three hundred pairs of shoes for
men and women. The shoes were donated by Beaty Shoe Sales of
Tennessee.
Please pray for my itinerary
January 2001: Missionary Conference,
Yucatan Peninsula.
February & March: deputation
April: Missionary Conference, Leon,
Guanajuanto.
Karen and I wish each of you a Christmas
where Christ is the center, and a new year of growing closer to the
Lord!
An heir of God through Christ,
Joel Silos, D.D.
