"...If you continue in my Word, then are ye my disciples indeed...John 8:31b

Dear Friends in Christ,

Thank you for your prayers and support for Spanish Baptist Missions.  One of its ministries is literature distribution.

We praise God that all of the 7,000 Bibles received last November 2005 have now been distributed to Spanish-speaking churches, here in the States, in Mexico, and other Latin-American countries.  Also distributed were the one and a half million gospel tracts received this year.

Bible Conference in May 2006 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico

More than eighty pastors attended a Bible conference in May in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico.  Several of the men are currently supported by our mission board.  Many of them have been supported in the past and now have established churches.  Revived and with fervor to continue in the Lord's work, all of the men returned to their respective fields with Bibles and tracts.

Letter from Mrs. Isidro Ontiveros, Leon, Guanajuato

Please forgive the delay in sending the report.  The past three months have been filled with our work.  As usual during the month of April, we were involved with our annual camp work.  The theme of this year's camp was based on the verse in Luke 18, "when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"  This year, 950 persons attended and fourteen pastors participated.  The campers were of all ages.  Each day people accepted Christ and many dedicated their life to full-time Christian service.  There were approximately 30 decisions made to accept Christ as personal Savior.

Few monetary funds were available for this endeavor but camp was realized by trusting in our Lord who touched the hearts of the members of the church.  They were very supportive with their hard work.  The Sunday before we left for camp, we experienced much opposition and even before leaving, my musical keyboard broke.  However, someone was able to lend me one for me to play for the musical recording.  Nevertheless, it is all worth it for the Lord's work.  Lives and attitudes were changed, and there were many Christians who were restored in the faith.

Silos Family Prayer Letter

Dear Friends in Christ,

Karen and I want to thank you for your prayers and support since our last newsletter.  We praise God for His goodness in allowing us to labor for Him and for the blessings He bestows on the family.

Summer school was recommended for David.  He can now spell his name and other words like lamb, kids, swim, Psalty, etc.  It seems he learns after seeing something done one time.  The school and Karen and I personally are trying to potty-train him.  For the first time, David will attend a VBS planned for special-needs children the second week of July.

Mary received the AWANA MERITORIOUS AWARD for completing six books of Scripture memorization.  She continues to study piano and violin and is playing with an ensemble.  This spring Mary learned how to slaughter the chickens she raises.  (No more pet chickens!)  She has been helping Karen with canning and her grandmother has taught her quilting.  Pray for Mary as she needs to take a special class in Biology and Algebra I with a home-schooling tutor.  This month, she is also teaching in Vacation Bible School.

Karen is busy as David's full-time caregiver.  She is also gardening and canning and driving Mary to her activities.  Karen is helping in VBS this month and ministering to children on Wednesday nights.

I am busy traveling, fixing the vehicles, and recovering from different illnesses caused by long hours on the road.  Trips are being planned to visit and encourage some of the missionaries in Mexico.  We will soon go visit Brother Pablo Cerda in Abasolo, Tamaulipas with his sending pastor.  Brother Pablo is in an area which is not receptive to the gospel.  Pray for him.

Last, but not least, we as a family will go to camp the week of July 4th, 2006.  The camp is especially geared for children with disabilities.  We praise God for the offerings that were received to offset the cost of attending camp as a family.

Pray for us.

An heir of God through Christ,

Joel Silos, D.D.
