And whosoever shall give to drink
unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a
disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
Matthew 10:42
Dear Friends in Christ,
The main purpose of Spanish Baptist
Missions is to assist native missionaries in Mexico to plant churches.
These missionaries, in following the calling of the Lord, are sent by
their local churches to work in other areas.
Since our last newsletter, I have been mostly on the
road. This traveling is with the purpose to visit churches and
present the need of financial support for the recent applicants who want
to serve under our Board.
Living Water Youth Camp
I thank God for the opportunity to preach and help in
the Living Water Youth Camp outside of Ashville, North Carolina this
month. As a result, I have been invited to preach in other churches.
Prayer Request
Please continue to pray for Pastor Uvaldo Acosta and
his family of Leon, Guanajuato. The health of their twelve-year-old
daughter, Raquel, has deteriorated. The doctors have said there is
nothing else they can do for her. The family needs help to pay for
the oxygen and pain medicines to keep Raquel as comfortable as possible.
Answered Prayer
We thank God that special offerings received have been
enough for Missionary Carlos Mata to buy a horse. He labors among
the Huichol Indians in the steep mountains of the state of Nayarit where
there are no roads, only footpaths.
Pastors' Conference
Continue to pray for the Pastors' Conference scheduled
for September 2007 in Leon, Guanajuato. Pastor Isidro Ontiveros and
Bethel Baptist Church will host the conference. Spanish Baptist
Missions will provide housing and meals for about 100 pastors at a cost of
approximately $3,000 (includes my trip into Mexico).
600,000 Gospel Tracts
We have received 600,000 tracts. Please pray that
we will be able to deliver these tracts to the pastors in Mexico who pray
for literature to distribute.
LCP Nathan Paul Silos
I certainly appreciate all the prayers and
interest on behalf of my nephew, Nathan, a Marine stationed in Baghdad.
He is scheduled for some R & R next month. Please continue to pray
for his safety and that he will be a witness for the Lord.
Family News
Praise God! At the beginning of this
month, we spent time together while attending Joni's Camp for Children
with Disabilities. David, our eleven-year-old, had a great time with
the caregivers assigned to him.
At the same camp, Mary, our
fifteen-year-old, served as a short-term missionary and helped with other
children in attendance. Please pray for her as she is now in Vermont
with a youth choir.
The group is helping in camp during the day
and witnessing and singing in evening services. Mary continues in
following God's will for her life.
Between camps and conferences, Karen is
busy gardening, sewing, canning, and preserving. She is grateful for
Chelsey Miyasaki. Chelsey, a college student, comes to the house
several times a week to teach David daily living skills such as table
manners, bathing, and toilet training.
Pastor Felipe Urquieta
Pastor Felipe Urquieta and the members
rejoice as to what has been accomplished with the offerings channeled
through Spanish Baptist Missions for several years. Now they can
worship out of the sun and rain and without fear of the rocks, hurled at
them by persecutors, coming through the tarps. The church request we
join them in prayer that they may soon be able to build an orphanage next
to the building. The need and the burden is great!
An Heir of God through Christ,
Joel Silos, D.D.
