Dear Friends in Christ,
Greetings in the Name of Jesus, our wonderful
Savior, Jesus Christ!
Mephibosheth Ministry - Eating
at the King's table:
The camp in Leon, Guanajuato is scheduled for the
week of April 6 to 11 2009. Please pray with us as we need help to
pay the camp fees for people with disabilities and their care givers to
attend camp. Camp is a time of Bible study, spiritual growth, and
where many come to know the Savior. Therefore, this year we would
like to also be able to help pay the fees for more teenagers.
Literature:
In January 2009, 3,600 John and Romans
booklets and 120,000 gospel tracts were delivered to Bro. Olazaran in
Brownsville, Texas. The literature will then be taken across the
border for use by the native missionaries. Praise the Lord for
supplying this literature!
Travel Conditions in Mexico:
The U.S. State Department often issues alerts,
warning of the dangers of traveling in Mexico. We have faith that if
God leads us to attend the aforementioned camp, He will keep us safe.
We trust Him implicitly.
Vehicles:
Pray for us as we seek God's will about replacing
the 1996 Ford truck in which I travel. It has over 300,000 miles and
has served us well. The truck requires much maintenance before each
trip, whether in the States to present the ministry before churches, or in
Mexico. Our 1990 Honda Accord which has over 200,000 miles, blew a
head gasket and needs motor and transmission overhaul. We bought if
for $500 five years ago and do not know if it is worth fixing. If
anyone has any leads for a comparable vehicle to replace this car, please
let me know.
Family News:
Pray for Karen as she seeks someone strong
physically and spiritually to help with David.
Pray for Mary as to which college or university she
should attend and the expenses involved.
Pray for safety for me over the many miles I travel
in the United States and in Mexico.
Excerpts From Some Missionaries' Letters:
Francisco Pat Coba,
Telchaquillo, Yucatan:
Dear Friends, Greetings in the Name of our God and
our Lord Jesus Christ. It is with a great joy I write to you,
brethren. Glory to God for His rich blessings! It is a new
year, and there is still much we must do in the work. People begin
coming to church and then some stop coming and it seems our work is in
vain. But praise be to God, we know the work is His, we are only
instruments of the Lord.
Julian del Angel Arguelles, La
Gargantilla, Pisaflores, Hidalgo:
Brethren, please continue to pray for us.
Praise be to God, things are going better in our church. In December
2008, I directed 13 services and taught three Bible classes; I worked on
repairing our house six days; I taught a three hour class in the Bible
Seminary two days and then conducted finals; I assisted a pastor in
Tamazunchale two days in conducting a Christian wedding; I was in San Luis
Potosi four days helping a caravan of dentists from the U.S. minister to
the local people; Christmas Day I spent at home with my wife and five
children. NOTE: Brother Arguelles does not seem to have a lazy
bone in his body!
Francisco Javier Ornelas,
Morelia Michoacan:
With much joy in that the Lord permits us to have
part in His work and by His grace and mercy, we greet you. May the
New Year be full of hope, faith, and the love of God, prosperity, and
blessings from our Heavenly Father. We share with you that your
prayers have been effective here in Morelia. We have had three
wonderful professions of faith. With an open Bible and many visits,
listening and explaining and answering all their doubts, they finally
accepted Christ as their Savior. We rejoiced greatly over these and
continue visiting others, looking to the Lord for their salvation.
We continue holding services in our home and are beginning to visit in a
colonia named "Heroes". There we minister to one family and hope to
begin holding services in their home. Thank you for your support.
The monthly offerings come at the right time and my wife and I pray for
you and thank God for your help.
Luis Flores Coba, Tecoh,
Yucatan:
We
greet you in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We
continue working, trusting in God, knowing He has the power to change
hearts so that they will believe the gospel, but the people are very
strong in their traditions. I ask you to pray for the ones who
attend the services, that they will be faithful in spite of problems in
their lives. My wife, Blanca, and our baby, David, and I are
grateful to the Lord for your support of our work. My greatest
desire is for souls to come to know the Lord at the foot of the cross.
Thank you for your support and for your prayers.
An heir of God through Christ,
Joel Silos, D.D.
